As part of the Primary SDL project to look at the school and its environment, 6T decided to select part of the local OS map, divide it into quadrants and produce visual images of the features of the map. Working in pairs or small groups, they firstly had to scale up their quadrant and plot the exact positions of the main roads, the River Ouse and the racecourse. They then drew other features and made decisions about what materials to use to represent all of these on their quadrant. The final act was to place the separate pieces together – and hope that they would match up – which they did!

As part of the SDL work, Year 5 mapped the school grounds.  We started by measuring the perimeter, then we drew the school to scale.
